Health Services for Women and Girls (en)

This project supports the reconstruction of Haiti's National School of Midwifery and the construction of maternity clinics. The project includes the training of professional midwives and Haitian health and management personnel. Each new maternity clinic has 2 certified midwives and offers services that include basic emergency obstetric and neonatal care, family planning, prevention and testing of HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections, and services for victims of sexual violence. The project aims to provide increased access to qualified preventative and basic emergency obstetric and neonatal services to approximately 230,000 women and girls affected by the earthquake, including 25,000 pregnant women. This project is part of Canada's Maternal, Newborn and Child Health commitment.
